Austria: Price of wood pellets down in May

In May, as in Germany and Switzerland, pellet prices fell as expected in Austria. The average retail price for wood pellets of quality ENplus A1 (delivery quantity 6t) is currently 23.20 cents / kg or 4.73 cents / kWh. This is 2.0% less than in April, but 3.1% more than in May 2017.

Accordingly, the pellet price index PPI 06 fell from 133.21 points in April to 130.49 points in May.

The most expensive pellets are, as usual, in the west of the country, averaging over 24 cents / kg. In the rest of Austria the price is around 23 cents / kg.

Sackware pellets costs 3.3% less with an average of 3.92 EUR / 15 kg bag than in April. The price is only 0.4% above the level of the same month of the previous year.

Large quantities of commercial pellets (17 t delivered) were priced at 200.06 EUR / t, which is 1.9% below the April price and 3.1% above the previous year.
