SICAM 2015 is setting out to be a very interesting edition with the participation of truly top-quality international companies. The surface area of the last edition has already been occupied at mid-March, with over 90% of last year’s exhibitors returning again. The remainder consists of new exhibitors (the exhibitors list is online on our website). “It is certainly a good sign,” commented the organiser Carlo Giobbi, “which I think can be read positively in three different ways. First of all, it is positive for the furniture industry: it means the global industry sees room for business in the markets that it finds at Pordenone, and that it detects a growth trend that must be followed closely. It is also a great sign for the high-quality components and accessories sector, which is typical of the SICAM exhibition panel. What we are detecting at SICAM is that it is the enterprises that have focused on production excellence that are emerging and are coming out stronger from the recession. Or rather, they are gaining the best positions in the scenes being created on international markets. Finally, it goes without saying that it is also a sign that clearly measures the efficiency that companies attribute to this event: year after year, SICAM has asserted itself at an international level and has gained a well-established leadership position.”

Recognising SICAM as a leading event at global level, approximately 500 exhibitors took part in 2014, including 33% from abroad, and over 17,000 professional visitors came, with 37% from as many as 95 countries all over the world: once again, the furniture sector made SICAM its opportunity to meet both historical and well-established markets and, above all, the new emerging markets. These markets destined to represent some of the demands of greatest interest in the future are the focus of the SICAM team’s promotional activities for the trade fair this year. While SICAM’s presence at the top trade fair events in the historical markets is, in a certain way, almost “obligatory”, its attendance was also reconfirmed at trade fairs in countries like Brazil (at the FIMMA of Bento Gonçalves), India with Dehliwood and IKCS, Iran with Woodex / Medex at Teheran, Dubai with the Woodshow, Mexico where SICAM is planning to attend ExpoAmpimm at the end of May, and many other markets. As always, this all-round promotion is proving to be very efficient in generating business contacts for SICAM exhibitors.

The event is obviously focused on components and accessories, i.e. the details which characterise a furnishing product: it is their combination that gives life to new pieces, which every year characterise the collections and realise innovation. “Talking about the ‘design system’, especially for a country such as Italy,” Giobbi explains, “means recognising the widespread presence of activities, skills, and products that are identifiable within the economic system. The use of the ‘design’ resource to build an innovation strategy is, without doubt, a vital weapon for boosting the capacity of products offered by every company on the global markets. The fact that the furniture sector, lying second in Italy for the number of companies and third for trade balance, is at an equal standing with the fashion industry, which is identified with the ‘made in Italy’ label throughout the globe, is above all thanks to the creative ability that generates Italian furniture and the design which often sets it apart.”

So the date is set for Tuesday 13th to Friday 16th October 2015 for the seventh edition of SICAM, the International Exhibition of Components, Semi-finished Products and Accessories for the Furniture Industry, with Pordenone waiting to welcome the leading players of the worldwide furniture industry and all of the sector’s professionals. Easy to get to and with excellent transport services, Pordenone has proved not just a welcoming location but also the perfect headquarters for SICAM. In addition, the time of year is ideal for defining the choices and strategies for the following trade season. So, at this stage, it is easy to forecast that we will see another very lively and effective edition of SICAM next October!
